ITHACA, N.Y. -- The women's soccer team's 4-0 victory over Vassar (3-4-0) improves its record to 6-2-1 and extends its unbeaten streak to five games. Senior Kara Hutchinson (Notre Dame Academy/Naples, Fla.) scored a career-high two goals and five points.
Ithaca took an early lead when junior Colleen Masterson (Trumansburg/Trumansburg) sent a chip pass from the right post to Hutchinson who found the top left corner at the 16:29 mark. The assist gives Masterson ten points on the season.
During the 49th minute, Vassar's goalkeeper challenged a shot by sophomore Chelsea Stouffer (Wheatland-Chili/Scottsville) at the top right corner of the box. The rebound found junior Chelsey Feldman (Hewlett/Lynbrook) who sent a shot from well outside the box into an empty net for her sixth goal of the season.
Hutchinson added her second goal after receiving a pass from senior Ashley Williams (Seneca Valley/Cranberry, Pa.) during the 56th minute. Hutchinson added an assist when she set up junior Alli Mayo (Skaneateles/Skaneateles) for a one-timer at 74:51. Hutchinson now has six points on the year. Mayo's goal was her second of the season.
Junior goalkeepers Aimee Meacham (Massena/Massena) and Rebecca Palmese (Plainview Old Bethpage/Plainview) combined for the Bombers' fifth straight shutout. Meacham turned away all four shots improving her record to 5-1-0.
The Bombers return to action Wednesday when they host Elmira at 4 p.m. for an Empire 8 contest.
